Stills | Artist Talk | Barbara ProbstIf photography freezes a split-second in time, Barbara Probst dissects and disperses that moment using a series of radio-controlled cameras to simultaneously record the same instant from multiple angles and distances. The resulting images reveal a number of diverse realities and undermine the notion of photographic 'truth'.

Authors@Google: Barbara SolomonThe Authors@Google program welcomed Barbara Solomon to Google's New York office to discuss her literary magazine, "The Reading Room". "Barbara Probst Solomon started her literary career as a teenaged American girl in post- World War II Paris. She introduced Peninsula, an anti-Franco literary magazine that was smuggled across the Pyrenees into Spain into the annals of Spanish history. Today Ms. Solomon is working at the cutting edge of the publishing business with her current literary magazine The Reading Room. Whereas in the past books and magazines were produced using expensive editorial and typesetting resources and required the dedication of capital to the warehousing of a large print run, The Reading Room is produced by the writers and printed on demand. As Saul Bellow, who had many small magazines of his own, put it when he joined the board of The Reading Room with Norman Mailer, Stanley Crouch, Larry Rivers, Daphne Merkin, Don Maggin, and Juan Goytisolo, There is no reason why good writers shouldnt take advantage of modern technology." This event took place on July 13, 2009.

As a centerpiece of their show, Cooke and Crimp reassembled Projects: Pier 18, Willoughby Sharp's 1971 collection of 27 artists' projects arranged on a dilapidated Hudson River pier. Mixed Use, Manhattan also featured more than 250 works by 40 artists, including Danny Lyon, Joan Jonas, Peter Hujar, Thomas Struth, Zoe Leonard, David Wojarowicz, Barbara Probst, Steve McQueen, and Emily Roysdon. James F SloanOne of my students, after hearing about our brother, James F. Sloan, and reading of his retirement on Admiral Allen's blog decided on her own to write him a letter of gratitude. She expresses beautifully, in her own words, how Mr. Sloan's service to our great nation has ensured our safety. She asks him to continue touching more hearts and explains "The world is a better place because you are in it! Jim has Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). Let's all work together to find a cure; for Jim and all those suffering from this horrific disease.
