Pakistan Army's restless rescue operation in Giyari SectorMassive rescue operation is still underway to retrieve the people trapped under snow-slide in Gayari sector near Skardu. Heavy machinery of Army, Frontier Works Organization and Public Works Department Gilgit Baltistan comprising Dozers, FE Loaders and Excavators have been moved to the site. Chinese machinery for Northern development.28.10.2009-itn news Sri LankaThe machinery imported from China to further strengthen the Uthutru Wasanthaya programme was officially handed over to the Government this morning. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian and head of the Uthuru Wasnthaya Task Force Basil Rajapaksa. The machinery was imported by the Uthuru Wasanthaya Task Force, to further make the massive development programme launched in the North, more efficient. The stock comprises 257 machinery worth 2049 million rupees. Chinas Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yang Xiuping handed over the machinery to Basil Rajapaksa. Mr. Rajapaksa said they started the development programme and resettlement after the war heroes rescued the people in the North. The Army Engineering Force is assisting them in the repair of damaged roads, culverts and tanks. Some machinery was received to be used for this purpose. He thanked the Chinese Government on behalf of the Sri Lankan people and the Uthuru Wasanthaya Task Force. Mr. Rajapaksa inspected the machinery at the Galle Face Green in Colombo. These will be used to develop the road network in the North in addition to reconstructing tanks and anicuts. Minister Risahard Bathiyuddeen, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Highways Ministry Secretary Wasntha Karannagoda, Northern Governor GA Chandrasiri and Army Commander Lt. General Jagath Jayasuirya were present.

The incident occurred at about 6am at an altitude of about 16000 feet and 180 miles northeast of Skardu the capital of Baltistan. Heavy machinery were sent from Rawalpindi for rescue work. Army helicopters were sent to the site to search and rescue the buried soldiers but the rescue operation couldn't continue due to darkness and bad weather. "At six o'clock this morning this avalanche hit (military) headquarters. Over 100 soldiers and personnel are trapped," said the spokesman, Major-General Athar Abbas earlier, adding that rescue teams had headed to the scene. So far, there have been no survivors or bodies found. How many journalists were killed? SAFMA?

To complete this How-To you will need: An old tablecloth A work smock A clean, empty plastic gal. jug, labels removed Strong scissors A craft knife An elastic band Newspaper White computer paper Unbleached flour or glue Acrylic paint Decorations Step 1: Protect table and clothes Cover your workspace with an old tablecloth or sheets of newspaper, and wear something to protect your clothes, like a smock. Step 2: Cut the jug With strong scissors, cut the plastic jug in half lengthwise. Turn the jug upside-down: The handle will serve as the mask's nose. Cut holes for your eyes and mouth with a craft knife. Cut a small hole on each side of the mask, at ear level, for an elastic band.
