She studied Journalism and Asian studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA. She began her career with the Associated Press in Panama in June 2003, where she also freelanced for The New York Times. In 2005 she left the AP to pursue freelance opportunities, and documented Bolivian President Evo Morales' rise to the presidency.
