Gabriel Dufourcq - Biographie

In 2001, after his High-School graduation, Gabriel started his studies at the university in economics, discovering in the same time the design, the photography and the architecture.

Being more and more involved in the vintage spirit and the Black and White, Gabriel started to focus on the old vintage photography and the 50's. In parallel, Gabriel started two collections:

- One of Black and White pictures and paintings from young French artists (Raphael Denis, Victoria Knights, A.Farina, Pierre Gilles...)

- A second on vintage press pictures of famous peoples and urban landscape from the most recognized agencies (Reuters, Magnum, Associated Press, United Press International...)

During his five years of studies in Paris, Gabriel also started to take pictures during his travels and randomly in his strolls in Paris, Rome and others. Following his own felling about his world and following the printed B&W pictures in his mind he learnt photography by himself. Considering that the technique and cameras are just means, he puts all the sense of his pictures in the point of view, in the way to take the picture.

Along theses artistic experiences, Gabriel developed his own way to take photo, in the same time developing his own way to "discuss" about the world.

His work becoming a discussion between his point of view on the modern worlds and the publics, trying to give a new way of seeing and thinking. Trough what is presented on his website, he definitely wants to break the common photo reportage style combining in a same work the three main pillars of the photography:

• To show (Visual system)
• To explain (Reportage)
• To create (Artistic style)
