Forma Galleria
Forma Galleria is the fine photography gallery within Forma Centro Internazionale di Fotografia.
Since its opening in 2005, Forma Galleria has established a reputation for the high quality and variety of its offer, ranging from precious vintage prints by masters of photography to modern works by emerging contemporary talents.
Forma Galleria is now the new reference point for both experienced collectors as well as “absolute beginners” who start approaching fine art photography.
In addition to print purchases, Forma Galleria offers other services such as consulting on photography market, conservation, set-up and mounting, as well as advice on collection start-up, research of specific prints on request.

FORMA CENTRO INTERNAZIONALE DI FOTOGRAFIA - THE PROJECT
FORMA was founded in 2005 by Fotospazio, a company created by Fondazione Corriere della Sera and by Contrasto. In its wide, multi-functional spaces FORMA offers diversified exhibiting areas, a rich exhibition program, movies projections, lectures and other educational activities. FORMA also hosts a specialized bookshop and a Printroom, which offers fine art photography prints for sale.

THE FOUNDERS
Fondazione Corriere della Sera was established in 2001 to assert and reinforce the authoritativeness and tradition of the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera through the organization of congresses, meetings and exhibitions, as well as the exploitation of the newspaper Historical Archives and the development of a publishing activity.
Contrasto is a unique institution in the world of photography, characterized by manifold activities and diversified high quality art enterprises. Created in 1986 to provide a new reference point for great documentary photography, throughout the years Contrasto has become the leading publisher in this field, the most important Italian photo-agency and a dynamic and consolidated cultural producer, working in cooperation with Italy most relevant public and private institutions.
Azienda Trasporti Milanesi, the Milan Transport Authority (ATM Azienda Trasporti Milanesi), a joint-stock company since January 1st 2001, provides public transportation in Milan and its province.
THE SPACE
Located in a former historical tramway warehouse, the architectural complex can be easily recognized from the outside for the large glass entrance-hall representing a lighted “lantern” on the town. This also provides a separate entrance to gain access either to the meeting hall on the upper floor, the terrace overlooking the beautiful square lined with trees and the Printroom.

The exhibition area
FORMA has a total surface of 1700 sqm, of which about 800 dedicated to the exhibition area. The White Room, a smaller “u” area, of great atmosphere introduces to the two wider areas, ideal for larger shows: the Column Room and the Glass Room. Last but not least, the Laboratory Room, the perfect space to exhibit more condensed works, on-location projects or photographic treasures, is continuously in function and offers the public specific shows aiming to examine in depth new visual languages, monographies, historical testimonies.
 
The conference room
FORMA upper floor hosts two rooms, reserved to meetings and seminars. The Trusses Room is often used for conferences, lectures with artists and photographers, presentations and debates. Under its magnificent wooden girders, this room hosts up to 100 people. The architectural structure of the building itself offers the possibility to host simultaneously several events.

The didactics rooms. Fully equipped with all technical requirements, Forma didactics rooms are used for workshops, seminars and educational programs for adults and children.
Bookshop
With a selection of Italian and international monographs, catalogues, novelties, international magazines and rare books, Forma bookshop is the privileged location for the photography connoisseur, also offering the possibilities of collecting information on activities related to photography worldwide.

Restaurant and cafeteria
A former courtyard, covered today with glass, hosts the restaurant.
THE ACTIVITIES
Thanks to its multi-functional, dynamic structure, FORMA has become the new “house of photography”; for this reason, next to the rich exhibiting program, FORMA offers a complete range of activities related to the visual arts such as sale of fine art photography prints for collectors, expertise services for collectors, educational and training experiences, meetings with artists and photographers, professional workshops, books presentations, lectures, movies projections. |
