DHC/ART Fondation pour l’art contemporain est un nouvel espace d’exposition situé dans un édifice historique rénové, au cœur du Vieux-Montréal (Québec, Canada). La fondation offre un nouveau lieu permanent, ouvert depuis l’automne 2007, pour de passionnantes et percutantes expositions et projets d’arts visuels. DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art is a new exhibition space housed in a converted, historic building in the heart of Old Montreal. A privately endowed foundation, DHC/ART is a new permanent location for exciting and relevant temporary visual arts exhibitions and projects. Accessible and welcoming, with free admission and flexible opening hours, the foundation is an important addition to Montreal's cultural life. DHC/ART aims to be a leading venue for contemporary art in Canada, attracting visitors to Montreal for its dynamic programming which reflects the global nature of art today. Set to open in the fall of 2007, DHC/ART aims to present some of the most compelling art of our time from around the world, both on-site and in occasional off-site settings or in the public realm. DHC/ART is also committed to promoting a greater appreciation and understanding of the art it presents. The foundation's goal is to present three to four exhibitions per year, as well as a program of special screenings and talks. DHC/ART also actively supports the production of contemporary art with an annual commission, in a variety of media, to an established or emerging Canadian artist. Activities - Approximately four solo or group exhibitions a year. An attempt will be made to exhibit work not previously seen in Montreal, by artists who have not had a prior significant exhibition in the city. - An annual commission to a Canadian artist for the production of new work, or for a major project, intended for exhibition at DHC/ART Foundation or in the public realm. - The Foundation is able to invite artists and curators to work collaboratively with DHC/ART staff over extended periods of time, in order to research, develop, and ultimately implement exhibitions. - The development of an extensive website and other printed educational material related to the exhibitions, as well as public programme events which promote an understanding of art as a vital social force.
