Byron McMahon Gallery also offers a wide range of additional services including Art selection and acquisition Collection management Exhibition development and tour management Auction consultation Art installation Resale and de-accessions Book and catalogue publishing Conservation, storage and framing advice Valuation services Sandra Byron is an independent Curator and Writer and Director of Byron McMahon Gallery, a commercial gallery in Sydney. For well over twenty years Sandra Byron has played a leading role in advancing the cause of photography in the Museum field in Australia and in the development and advancement of photography in the fine art photography market in Australia. Byron founded the commercial gallery, Byron Mapp Gallery which opened in Paddington in 1995. She had spent the previous thirteen years as Curator of Photography at The Art Gallery of New South Wales. Byron has also played a major role in encouraging philanthropy and managing business arts partnerships including setting up programs for The National Gallery of Australia’s Photography Circle, The Photography Collection Benefactors Scheme at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Campbelltown Bicentennial Art Gallery. She is a member of AIPAD (Association of Independent Photography Art Dealers) the ACGA (Australian Commercial Galleries Association) and a valuer for the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts program. In addition to Sandra Byron’s extensive experience in museums, commercial galleries and auction houses Byron’s University studies have included Visual Arts, Fine Arts and Business Administration. Peter McMahon Peter McMahon is a long time art enthusiast who became a partner in the Gallery while it was located at Danks Street, Waterloo. In 2006 he purchased and redeveloped the historic Redfern Hotel where the Gallery opened in March 2007. He is a partner in the Taxation practice at Ernst & Young, Sydney.
