The idea of the gallery is to show the big diversity within the Chinese Art. A very lively and dynamic art-scene has developed during the Post-Mao-Era since about 1979, despite the many difficulties. With a background of national identity and traditional Chinese contents and painting techniques, the Chinese artists experience and work with western art as well as with the influences of the capitalistic world. Influenced by this are still many works today, but the contemporary Chinese world is on one side more and more intertwined into the „global art process“, on the other side very much trying to create an independent appearance.
Today’s Chinese art is entertaining in its often very decorative, kitschy representations. At first glance, it seems as if this form covers the critical content. But there are naturally many artists whose works show at once there intensive discussions and explanations with the questions to the world of today.
For example: the transforming of classic country-painting style to industry landscape today.
This development of the past 25 years and the current process is something “ArtChina†aims at to show through originals, edition-graphics and photographs. Displayed will be both internationally recognized as well as young artists. |
