Verticals Holger Niehaus

The first group exhibition in the new Van Zoetendaal gallery at Oude Schans 67f opened to the public. Entitled 'Verticals', the exhibition will comprise a selection of works by a number of artists attached to the gallery plus photographs from Van Zoetendaal's own collection. The lay-out of the exhibition will be subject to constant change as works are replaced and new ones added. Visitors to the newly designed website will be able to view the exhibition via floor plans and installation overviews, and can even zoom in on individual works.

Johannes Schwartz Das Prinzip

The title of this first publication on the photographic works of Johannes Schwartz is deceptive. 'Das Prinzip' (The Principle) suggests a truth or a dogma, which is not however present in the various works - mostly series that are here only represented by one image. Unless of course one were to define 'deceptiveness' itself as a principle. The works are arranged sequentially but in reverse order: the first photo in the catalogue is thus chronologically the last one. Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky

The starting point of Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky (1980, Bern) to the project 'The Factory' was to build landscapes, based upon the feelings of places and situations she misses from her place of origin, Switzerland. The factory refers to pictures as considered beautiful, pictures showing nature in an idealized way for example hills shining in the first spring sun, lakes as transparent as glass and forests covered with fresh snow. Kyungwoo Chun Versus and Believing is Seeing

This first color-photographic series 'Versus, 2006-2007' is dealing with interpretation about human relationship like many other works before and inspired by the shape of an old Chinese word 'ren' which looks like a walking man and has the meaning of 'man'. This word was created from the meaning that nobody can stand alone and always need someone to stand.
