Sous Les Etoiles Gallery is pleased to host the exhibition Breezeless dedicated to Contemporary Japanese Photography. The show features eight photographers: Mikio Hasui, Taishi Hirokawa, Gentaro Ishizuka, Haruhi Fujii, Haruna Kawanishi, Kiiro, Chie Murakami, Takemi Saito. Ten percent of the net profits will be donated to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund.

Reiner Riedler’s series Fake Holidays, takes us to the heart of a society of standardized leisure where foreign places are fabricated into local spaces in which we can stage our own life histories. Replicas of the greatest touristic landscapes in the world discard space, time and reality, arousing a sense of adventure and a taste for the exotic without the journey or the risk.

Wendy Paton allows herself to disappear in order to let her subjects emerge from the night. “My experience is that people act differently at night. They let their guard down. They become who they really are, or they transform themselves into someone, real or imagined, that they want to be. There are seemingly no restrictions at night. Life seems to become more free flowing as opposed to how people tend to act in the light of day.” For Paton, the night is both solemn and cheerful, open to desire and mystery.

NEW YORK, NY, JUNE 2009 - Photographs from Sophie Delaporte’s Early Fashion Work series will be on view at Sous Les Etoiles Gallery during New York’s Fall Fashion Week from September 17th through October 30th 2009. This is Sophie Delaporte’s first solo exhibition in New York City. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, September 17th from 6-9 pm at the gallery.
Born in 1971 in Paris, Sophie Delaporte studied photography and film at the art school Louis Lumière in Paris. After graduating, she moved to London and started to work for the English press.
