On October 6 Sotheby's New York will offer at auction a selection of photographs that includes early masterpieces from the medium's first years to work by the most important photographers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Our exhibition begins on Friday, October 1. Our e-catalogue can be viewed online. Printed catalogues can be purchased at our locations worldwide.

Sotheby’s European Photographs department has the pleasure to invite you to view our travelling exhibition PHOTOGRAPHS, showing exquisite vintage photographs dating from the first half of the 20th century – the classical period of Photography.

Amongst the highlights are four nudes taken by Edward Weston of the Mexican writer Anita Brenner in 1925, as well as four works by Eugène Atget one of which is a beautiful arrowroot print depicting Notre-Dame in Paris, dating 1923.

On June 21st and 22nd, Sotheby's will offer an auction of Photographs from the Polaroid Collection in New York. The collection of more than 1000 works provides unique insight into the influence of Polaroid's revolutionary technology – which all but eliminated the distance between inspiration and realization – on the history of photography.
