Higan - Nobuyoshi Araki
Rat Hole Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of Nobuyoshi Araki’s recent work entitled Higan on view from July 22 until September 25. The exhibition marks Araki’s sixth solo exhibition at Rat Hole Gallery and features over 450 works, including black and white photographs of the city streets of Tokyo seen from a taxi window, color photographs taken just after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the artist’s latest work “Rakuen”, a series of photographs featuring exotic flowers and monster figurines.

Following the March release of his photo book CHILDHOOD, for this exhibition Wataya presents his latest series of photographs which depicts the complex emotions and expressions that go hand in hand with the fragile period between childhood and adulthood. Nobuyoshi Araki - Polart 6000
In a rare all-English interview from honeyee, the attention turns to Nobuyoshi Araki. Having recently celebrated his 69th birthday with an exhibition featuring 69, 6 x 9 prints, the interview takes on a slight pessimistic tone as Araki denounces the current digital trend in photography.
