Der Rote Bulli - Stephen Shore and the New Düsseldorf Photography
Stephen Shore as the American inspiration for the renown German Becher class ? With this spectacular thesis the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf is focusing for the first time on an important chapter in the recent history of photography: the transatlantic influence on photography in the 1970s and 1980s. Right at the heart of this chapter is a friendship between three artists that was forged in New York in the year 1973. It was in this sprawling American metropolis that the 26-year-old Stephen Shore met the Düsseldorf photographer Hilla Becher, whose typological photographic documentation of water-towers, which she had put together ...

Polaroids - Julian Schnabel
The exhibition will include about 100 snapshots—most of which have never been shown in public before—that capture those things that captured the attention of the artist: himself, his family, his friends, his paintings and sculptures in studios and exhibitions ...
In short, the exhibition offers a unique tableau of images from the life and work of a dazzling artist. As soon as he notices that his life is lacking risk, he moves on and focuses on something new. Perhaps it is in his genes. After all, he is the grandson of aviator Alfred Comte.
Within the space of a few years, Comte wen...

Albert Watson - Best of
Albert Watson may be blind in one eye (a fact hinted at in the title of his legendary book, Cyclops), but this does not diminish his ability to see in any way. Whatever he captures on camera - whether it be Mick Jagger, the hand of a chimpanzee, Kate Moss in Morocco, or a domina in Las Vegas - he creates an iconic image.
From September 2008, a collection of his work will be on display at the NRW-Forum. This retrospective will cover a wide range of photos from early icons to brand new studio photos.
Over the course of the past few decades, Albert Watson has not only become one of the world's most successful fas...
