Amongst the highlights of the “Photography” Auction can be counted a number of August Sander’s most important landscape photographs, including his shot of the Rhine river at Boppard from 1938 (lot 27, 8.000 €) as well as another from 1941 where the photographer captures a romantic rear view high over the Rhine and the island of Nonnenwerth (lot 22, 8.000 €).

Photoworks - Sigmar Polke
In Spring 2010 Lempertz auctioned, with great success, a representative selection of the Carl and Carin Vogel Collection, which also included photography from Sigmar Polke. Further photographic works from this artist with the same provenance will be offered for sale in our Contemporary Art auctions from Autumn 2011. Before this occurs, and this amazing collection is again dispersed, it gives us great pleasure to present, for the first and perhaps the last time, a selection of these works in an exhibition.

Auction 949 Photography
In keeping with Lempertz' tradition, there is a separation of the photography offer. The contemporary photography will be auctioned on 5 December in the afternoon together with contemporary art, while the 19th century and classic photography will be auctioned on 4 December at 6:00 pm.
