Rosalind Nashashibi anthropological in nature
The ICA is pleased to present a solo exhibition by London based artist Rosalind Nashashibi, the most comprehensive presentation of the artist's work to date. This exhibition concentrates on her recent work, presenting 16mm films from the last four years, alongside examples of her photographic output.
The lower gallery is being used to display a trio of short, inter-connecting film works, including Eyeballing (2005), which juxtaposes scenes of New York policemen with the anthropomorphic faces that Nashashibi's camera finds in the physical fabric of their city. Peter Hujar
his is the first UK retrospective for Peter Hujar, one of the most important American photographers of the 70s and early 80s, whose work shows the life of New York at a time when the city was financially impoverished but artistically rich. Hujar, who died in 1987, is most associated with his black-and-white portraits of the city's avant-garde stars, but his subjects also include nudes, animals and the streets of night-time Manhattan.
