"Archaik" by Christian von Alvensleben

Under the title ‘ARCHAIK’ the Flo Peters Gallery is opening an exhibition of new works by the photographer Christian von Alvensleben. On show are 43 black and white photographs of original objects which Christian and Helga von Alvensleben collected at places worldwide and photographed with a plate camera using the analogue photography technique. Desert Birds - Werner Bartsch

The Flo Peters Gallery starts into the new year with photographs by Werner Bartsch. His 'Desert Birds'-cycle depicts the aerospace storage bases in the south-west of the USA which are strictly sealed off from the outside world. For this project doors were only opened exceptionally. The illustrated book 'Desert Birds' was published by the Kehrer Verlag in 2010.

In his pictures Werner Bartsch illustrates the fascination of these places and focuses the strange and bizarre appearance of the disused airplanes in the expanse of the barren desert. In contrast to the activity of an airport one feels the isolation here...

Steve McCurry photographic work of award-winning american photographer

Steve McCurry was born in 1950 in Philadelphia and studied at the College of Arts and Architecture at Pennsylvania State University. After a two years employment at an american newspaper agency he quitted his job to work as a freelancer. His first aim to travel was India which offered him a wide range of subjects for an intimate photo documentary. It is the waiting and observing attitude of the photographer which reveals the soul of an object in the picture and which fades out the effects of the focusing camera. The calmness in the pictures invites the viewer to rest and to think about what he’s looking at.

Woodlands and beyond... Mat Hennek

Starting with the 2nd of July the Flo Peters Gallery will show works of German photographer Mat Hennek. The show with the title Woodlands and beyond... consists of round about 40 photographs of the cycle Woodlands, the cycle Alpenpässe as well as a selection of portraits.

The photos from the Woodlands cycle are the outcome of numerous excursions through all sorts of bosk - wood impressions with bewitching atmospheres. Carefully selected sections from sacral ambitious wood landscapes, often without horizon or ground, that have an oddly soothing, almost meditative effect.

Herbert G. Ponting - The Conquest of the South Pole

With the exhibition Herbert G. Ponting: The Conquest of the South Pole the Flo Peters Gallery will present from the latter part of March photographs of historic significance and incomparable suspense.

In 1910 Captain Robert Falcon Scott set sail under the British Flag aboard the research ship Terra Nova aiming to be the first man to conquest the South Pole. Also part of the crew was a photographer and cameraman by the name of Herbert G. Ponting.
