Water is a common chemical substance that is essential for the survival of all known forms of life. As it cycles from the air to the land to the sea and back again, water shapes our planet and nearly every aspect of our lives. It soothes the spirit and sustains the body; its beauty inspires art and music. Employed by people around the world in rituals and ceremonies, or sports and recreation, water bathes us from birth to death.
While a positive component to life, water causes great distress for living and non-living things throughout the world. A looming water crisis negatively impacts developed and undeveloped countries alike. Shortages and pollution threaten individuals, communities, biodiversity, and the ecosystem. On the contrary, water can be too plentiful, resulting in flooding, property damage, and death.
Px3 invites photographers from around the world, both professional and non-professional, to enter work that showcases the importance and impact of water in our world.
