Born in 1925, Arnold Odermatt has been in charge to photograph the police corps activities in the canton of Nidwalden since 1948.
As a Police officer, but also self-taught photographer, he's started very quickly to add a double lecture to his task. The first immediate and spontaneous phase is destined to the work of investigation and research. Once the documentation work fulfilled, he put's an amused regard on the sites and his collegues, in particular on their allures and the scenes of daily work, where the swiss landscapes are playing a central role in the composition. The exhibition « Arnold Odermatt.Winter » at Simon Studer Art regroups a selection of colour photographs in the wintry landscapes of the canton of Nidwalden between 1963 and 1975.
