g Pingyao International Photography Festival (China) - from 19th to 25th of september - presents for the first time in China the exhibition “80+80 photo_graphisme”. VU' in china VU' has just opened a new office in China dedicated to the activities of both the agency and the gallery in China. Jean Loh has been appointed manager. Jean Loh settled down in China a few years ago. He is well known both as a photography collector and as a curator of quite a number of photography exhibitions. VU' has also signed a distribution contract with « Imagine in China » , an agency run by the French manager Jérôme Lacrosnière. Created in 2001, “Imagine China” is one of the leading photo agencies in China. Its main clients are not only international newspapers and magazines but also more than 1000 Chinese media VU' China - Lane 210 Taikang Road - Building 5 Suite 520 - Shanghai 200025 – China. Tel / Fax : +86-21-5465-3697 - Mobile : +86-136-0187-7712 the exhibition “80+80 photo_graphisme “ is the encounter of two image-creating jobs : graphic designer and photographer. To celebrate VU' 20th anniversary in an original way, VU' Gallery and Anatome Gallery (Paris) have asked 160 creators from all over the world (80 graphic designers and 80 photographers) to confront their experience and their respective visions, exploring freely a new dimension of graphics creation. Each graphic designer had been given the image of one VU' photographer. High-risk creative clash where the photography doesn't come as a mere illustration but is at the center of the graphic creation. How a graphic designer can work with a photographic picture who is self-sufficient and meets one author's requirements ? A big dilemma for the graphic designer ! Exhibited pictures are the results of two sensibilities's confrontation. Some graphic designers have superposed their typographic or graphic codes on the photographic picture. Others have deconstructed it or reinterpreted it. Finally, others have added sense, sometimes in a very different or provocative way. By taking this initiative, VU' and Anatome gallery have allowed an absolutely unique and ambitious encounter between 160 artists. The exhibition was originally presented simultaneously at Galerie VU' and Galerie Anatome in november and december 2006, during the Mois Européen de la Photographie in Paris (France). The catalogue is published by Aman Iman Créations and Filigranes. pingyao international photography festival Created in 2000, Pingyao International Photography Festival has become one of the most important festival in China.
