Taking, creating and talking about photographs – the f/16 Summer School offers photography enthusiasts the chance to submerse themselves in Berlin for two weeks in the world of photography. In workshops, on excursions, in the studio and in the darkroom – and in an exhibition of their own pictures.

Side-by-side with professional photographers, like-minded people from all over the world can experiment and discover special places in Berlin through the camera. The city's history is experienced in its sights through the viewfinder - for example the impressive architecture of the Jewish Museum by Libeskind or the exciting atmosphere of the racecourse at Hoppegarten.

Whether it's digital or analogue, colour or black and white, artistic or documentary photography – each participant can create their own course plan out of the comprehensive programme on offer. Architectural photography, studio portraiture and image editing are all available, as well as darkroom work and studio lighting.

Together the participants will explore, experiment and discuss every stage of the process – and between the workshops there will be enough time for individual advice about the own portfolio or technical details. By the way the studios and the darkroom can be independently used. As a highlight at the end of the Summer School the participants will be able to curate the exhibition of their own pictures, with a jointly developed concept the work will be presented its best possible light. The viewing will finally bring the Summer School to a close – with conversations about the photographic work that has taken place over the previous weeks.

The Summer School runs from 6th to 19th August 2012 in Berlin/Germany.

About f/16 Schule für Fotografie:
The Berlin f/16 Schule für Fotografie offers a wide range of courses on the foundations and various genres of photography. A team of international photographers combining professional practice and teaching experience share their expertise in day release, weekend and evening courses. The courses are aimed at amateur photographers and at those looking for an artistic challenge or aiming to set themselves up on a professional basis. The course programme is supplemented by exhibitions, lectures and individual advice.
