For the 5th time, the world of photography will meet in Hamburg and will transform the city into the capital of photography within 6 days and nights. Under the motto "Crossing Boundaries. Photo-Film-Photo”, the international photo festival invites people interested in photography to projections, films, talks, lectures, and a portfolio viewing as well as to numerous exhibitions.

The interplay of film and photography will provide for a diverse and interesting festival program of more than 100 events and 150 photographers, filmmakers, and artists from around the world, including many stars, established artists, and newcomers of the international photography and film scene. Their work will be discussed at the cinemas of the city and at the Triennial tent by Pilsner Urquell, while visitors may stroll through more than 30 photo exhibtions at museums, galleries, and other cultural sites in and around Hamburg.

To kick off the Triennial on the 31st of March, the exhibition "Portraits in series. Photographs of a Century" at the Museum of Arts and Crafts will open up as well as two exhibitions at the House of Photography: "The Twins. A visual journey by Gisela Getty & Jutta Winkelmann and Joe Dallesandro Super Star".

5 cinemas will start an exciting program: On 1st of April, Swiss documentary photographer and filmmaker Alberto Venzago will be guest at Metropolis. On 5th of April, Benjamin Katz, protagonist of the film "The Photographer" will be in conversation with film director Ju?rgen Heiter. In addition, on the same evening, there will be an interview with Wim Wenders on the screening of "Palermo Shooting". On the 2nd of April, Dilip Mehta, Indian photographer and filmmaker, will be at Abaton to present his film "The Forgotten Woman“. On the 5th of April, Robert Krieg will introduce his film "Children of the Stones, Children of the wall“, while on 3rd of April, Elfi Mikesch, photographer and filmmaker, will be guest at Alabama. Furthermore, Volker Gerling will present his flipbooks in a show on 4th of April at B-movie. From 31st of March on, the movie theater 3001 will screen a series of films by the legendary French photographer and director Agne?s Varda.

The meeting point of the festival will be at the Triennial tent, where a finalists’ exhibition of 1/Award will be on display. Here, the work of young talents will be presented by photography experts as well as lectures on film. And at "Spotlights", photographic positions and multimedia productions will be offered to an interested audience. Starting the event, photographer Uwe Martin together with five guests will present and discuss a range of multimedia productions. On 3rd of April, a lecture series with renowned experts on topics such as the photographic film, photography, and photographers in the feature film will begin with the photographer and multimedia entrepreneur Daniel Nauck, followed by the media artist Guszta?v Ha?mos, and the art historians Prof. Dr. Michael Diers, Dr. Torsten Scheid and Dr. Karin Maak.

Finale and climax of the photo festival will be "Visions on Film" on 6th of April. A series of photographs and video works will be shown by ten young international artists. Parallel on ten screens, the works will give a unique insight into the common world of photography and film – contemporary, international, and unusual, selected by a jury of international experts. Tickets for "Lecture series and Spotlights" may be purchased from 31st of March, 12 am, at the Triennial tent at Deichtorhallen.
