The collection contains about 350 vintage - photographs from the time of 1940 to 1980.
Topic is the revolution in Cuba, the beginnings, the realization and the time afterwards. Mainly pictured characters are initiators of the revolution as Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Camillo Cienfuegos and others.

The history of the revolution is not supposed to be described completely. A social evolution is intended to be shown by the sequence of coincidental and commissioned, always original picture documents, whose protagonists reached a worldwide degree of fame (e.g. Che Guevara as the person of the history, whose photographic image is until today worldwide most printed and published). The photographs show the routine life of the time in Cuba on the other hand extreme exceptional circumstances, the cruelties of the war and the unbroken will of the people. They are telling us authentic stories about situations and persons, some curious and strange, some shocking. Today, these photographs are subjected to a new evaluation very different from the time they were produced. We are seeing now not only the document of that time, but also the creative work of the photographer which raises some of the pictures into the rank of works of art.

After many Cuba visits and with the help of well-informed Cubans this collection arose in a period of 10 years. The collector could become acquainted with numerous photographers, (as Alberto Korda, who unfortunately already passed away), and experienced a lot about this topic beyond glorification and propaganda.
The collection is presented to the public for the first time. I am pleased to having found a suitable frame in the cooperation with the Festival International Cine Cubano "Ficcu" in Munich (www.ficcu.com from oct. 29, to nov. 7, 2009) for the inauguration.

Subsequent to the exhibition I would like to offer this collection of 40 Years Cuban Photography about the Cuban Revolution to museums or institutions for prospective exhibitions. I will be happy to provide you with details and catalogue.

The photo collection contains works of following photographers:

Alberto Korda, Tirso Martinez, Osvaldo Salas, Raul Corrales, Jorge Oller, Severo, Delio Valdes, Alborta Trigo, Sara Kamay, Osvaldo Ozon, Jose Agraz Solans, Fernando Lezcano, Hernandez Toledo, Enrique Llanos, Mario Collodo, Aristide Reyes, Marino Bueno, Arias, Coya, Panchito Cano, Miguel Lavilla, Jose Lorenzo, Garbalaza, Meneses, Alejandro Herera, Gallardo, Armando Morales, Naranjo, etc.

With "The Family of Dog", Michael Ruetz has created, over the last 50 years, a unique body of photographic work. Ruetz' pictures are as far removed from those of the animal specialist...
